This is about as close as you can get to a massage with actual hands since it mimics the thumbs and fingers used in a Shiatsu massage. Battery operation makes this convenient since I don't have to be by a wall outlet to use it. Fully charged it lasts about an hour or so depending on the massage mode.
The heat is nice. Don't expect heating pad hot, just a gentle warming. It does have a red light that comes on with the heat, but the ad doesn't mention red light therapy, so I think it is just an indicator light to let you know the heat is on.
Overall a nice massager that may work better for you than me, depending on your target area. My neck is rather thin and it hits more on the side instead of that muscle towards the back that is always tight on me.
